Sea and Shore

On Monday we boarded the Celebrity Constellation and departed Miami toward the Caribbean. We had two days at sea to rest up, enjoy the sun, play some of the games from the activities staff (who would become some of our favorite people ever!), meet our room attendents and servers (more great friends by the end of two weeks), attend the evening shows and acapella group, and oh yeah of course how could I forget - EAT!

Food Art and Joe LOVING his Creme Brulee which he ordered everynight - ususally paired with another dessert and after he had finished the first four courses including most nights two entrees! In his defense it was exceptional food!

Those first two days I don't remember much - too many people by the pool and using towels, books, and bags to "reserve" seats that they weren't using for hours at a time. Although I wasn't upset I had to pace myself at first - after being in Alaska all summer my body needed to get gradual exposure. So we attended a lot of the activites on board and after being invited to attended "Bingos" - our activities director was from Argentina so he loved to throw in those extra "s" sounds - and lucky me I won the last round which was blackout and split the prize with one other man, so I won $77! With that kind of luck I thought about hitting up the casino for just a minute but instead watched other people lose a lot of money.

I've got the winning ticket!

Then our first stop was St. Thomas, Virgin Islands! There was a big hype for shopping here and we walked around a bit but then decided to spend our time doing a walking tour of Blackbeards castle and the 99 steps leading up to it. There were also some really cool houses from the late 1800's that we were able to tour. And we learned how to make rum - unfortunately we had to turn down the free samples, luckily we had Banana Fosters later on the ship! A common occurance at dinner would go like this: Mom "Does this dish/soup/dessert/sorbet have alcohol in in?" Me: "Probably" as I either ordered or ate a bite of that dish!

So each stop the cruise takes pictures of you - after about 3 I found out that they were optional, this theme was pirates and although I LOVE pirates these two kind of creeped me out. My mom liked the picture but didn't want to spend $10 on it so she took a picture of the picture!

Annie and I wanting to be Captain Bingos too!
