Our second stop was St. Maarten/Martin which is an island that is split in half, the Dutch preside over one half and the French on the other. However they co-habitate quite well so there is no border crossing or huge difference from one side to the other which allowed us to rent a car (sorry Joe a Jeep) and spend the day driving around and seeing a large chunk of what became one of our favorite stops.
Beautiful Water and Mom pointing a cannon at our ship?
We first stopped at Ft. Amsterdam and just explored this beautiful point and then headed over to Maho Beach where you are right next to the St. Martin Airport so no joke planes are coming in to land right over your head while your swimming!
Annie and I under a plane, and I took this one of Joe - the plane was so big I couldn't even fit it all in the frame of the picture!
Then we drove around to the French side and stopped at another great beach to do a little snorkeling (we decided to pass on the nude beach - which was a good thing because we ran into the Missionaries) When they made a "border" stop to take a few pictures and finally headed back into town to turn in the rental car - but the day was great and so much more affordable to just do our own tour!
I'm on French soil, Mom is on Dutch soil!
Then that night after our dinner and show Annie and I headed over to sing at least one karaoke song before the night was through. We were excited to just have fun until we got there and it was older gentlemen singing one right after each other and mostly ballads - oh tough crowd. Then we got a little nervous but decided ok lets do a duet, but what songs can we sing and we gotta pick one that is conducive to this crowd - then we came up with it "Aint No Mountain High" Lets just say we were a breath of fresh air and had the people clapping and smiling (and we weren't good vocally) but we were dancing around and just having a ball! The crowd not only clapped I definitely heard some cheers and whistles when we were threw! We even got called over by a potential agent after the show she advised us that we were great and everyone loved us especially the gentlemen - but if we really wanted to win this contest they were having we needed to wear some short skirts and low cut shirt so we could show off our Boobies! Then the old guys would vote for us. That is advice to live by I guess! Needless to say Annie and I decided to consider our options a little more and we weren't heartbroken when we didn't make the finals at the end of the cruise - mostly because we were up against a guest who could belt out Josh Grobin's "You Raise Me Up!"
Classic girl choreography to the song! Next song - "My Humps" by Fergie, what does that even mean! I don't know, no one knows but it's provocative and it gets the people going!
